Sanitation Facilities handed over in Kidera and Kisozi

Developing Lives, livelihood and Nutrition Uganda handed over two six-stance toilet facilities at Kitaidhumba Primary School and one six-stance toilet along with a renovated office house at Kisozi Subcounty. These initiatives underscore a commitment to improving sanitation and infrastructure in the region, with significant contribution from kolschowsky foundation.

On July 29, 2025, two six-stance toilet facilities were officially handed over at Kitaidhumba Primary School. The ceremony was presided over by the Isabalangira (Chief Prince) of Bugabula BB chiefdom Prince Woira Henry, who represented the Kyabazinga of Busoga His Majesty Gabula Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope IV.


The Kyabazinga had previously conducted an inspection visit to assess the facilities, demonstrating the royal family's direct involvement and commitment to community development.The Isabalangira was accompanied by the Buyende District Chairperson Mr. Kanaku Micheal and several councilors, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the traditional leadership and local government.

The event saw a significant turnout, including town council leaders led by the Mayor of Kidera Town Council Mr.Tezikuba Patrick Isiah, various community leaders, and the entire school management team, headed by the Head Teacher of Kitaidhumba Primary School, along with the pupils. This broad attendance signifies the community's engagement and the importance placed on these new facilities.


DLLN-UG, in partnership with its collaborators and funding from kolschowsky foundation, was responsible for the construction and handover of these facilities. Crucially, relevant officers provided proper guidance and training to the stakeholders on the effective usage and maintenance of the new sanitation blocks, ensuring their longevity and sustained benefit to the school community.

Following the Kitaidhumba Primary School event, a separate handover ceremony took place on July 31, 2025, at Kisozi Subcounty. This event marked the official commissioning of one six-stance toilet and a renovated office house which is going to serve as the Mayor’s office. The Isabalangira again led the proceedings, this time accompanied by his Prime Minister, further emphasizing the Busoga Kingdom's dedication to regional development.


The facilities were formally handed over to the town council leadership, represented by the Mayor of Kisozi town council and the Town Clerk, signifying their immediate operational use. A key aspect of this handover was the continued focus on sustainability.

The stakeholders present received further training on facility maintenance from a team representing the Iowa State University-Uganda program. This partnership highlights the involvement of international academic institutions in capacity building and knowledge transfer for sustainable development initiatives in Uganda.


These handovers represent significant strides in improving public health and administrative infrastructure within Busoga sub region, reflecting a concerted effort by the Busoga Kingdom,DLLN-Uganda and international partners.
