Training of Trainers Capacity Building Workshop for DLLN-Uganda Employees
DLLN – Uganda’s primary targets are families at households’ level, school institutions and farmers’ groups in Buyende, Kamuli and Jinja Eastern Uganda.
The organisation has a variety of projects and among them is “Intervention for Covid19 in Practical Skilling for A Sustainable Future Project” which has established a number of skilling centres in Kagulu, Kidera, Kisozi and Kitayundwa to rehabilitate young mothers and the youth who cannot attain formal education as a result of covid19.
These centers have been in existence for years and have been giving quality skills to the communities. However, the management of DLLN-Uganda realized the need to retool the trainers in these centers to improve more on service delivery.
Walya ICT Consultants, a local training firm which deals in Training, Consultancy, Evaluation and Procurement was hired to carry out a five days training of Trainers workshop for 14 staff members at Tigs Hotel Kamuli which started on 30th January 2023 and ended on 03rd February 2023.
The main goal of the Training workshop was to prepare instructors to present information effectively, respond to participant questions, and lead activities that reinforce learning.
In order to achieve the above lofty objectives, the following subject areas were articulated and presented
1. Concept of a teacher
2. Class room management
3. The Garage ( Self Evaluation)
4. Communication Skills
5. Motivation in Education
6. Project Report
7. Schemes of Work
The exercise was carried out using the contents in the developed training manual using different approaches/strategies like Pre-tests, Work groups, Lectures, Micro Teaching, Discussions, Lectures, Individual exercises, Group exercises/work, Questions and answer sessions, Post tests. Each day had different activities which were carried out throughout the entire training
The trainings were digital and all the Trainees were distributed with Media Tabs during the training and all the training content was availed to them on the tabs and the training WhatsApp group.
In his remarks, the Project Coordinator Mr.Mwiru urgued the Instructors to put into practice what had been taught to them in the training workshop.
Mr.Buguma David, one of the Co founders commended the instructors to have love for what they do and put all their efforts in DLLN Works. He argued them to to put into Practice the Mission and Vision of DLLN-Uganda.
The Executive Director of DLLN-Uganda was pleased wit the attendance and efforts put up by the instructors in the workshop, he is expecting more positive results from the skilling centers.
The Instructors were awarded Certificates of Participation.
