New boreholes Commissioned at Kitaidhumba and Kyawuka

A total of 22,629 people in Budiope sub region have benefited from boreholes donated by Developing lives, livelihood and Nutrition Uganda with funding from Kolschowsky Foundation from United states of America. These boreholes were constructed at Kitaidhumba Primary School and Kyawuka Village all in Kidera Town Council.

The boreholes are going to provide the population clean water for human consumption, cattle consumption and irrigation. water traps have been constructed where excess water will be collected for irrigation , animals consumption an other activities like brick laying and motor vehicles washing.

Prince Kitimbo Daniel Joshua, the DLLN-Uganda  Director yesterday March 1st, 2024 during the commissioning held at Kitaidhumba Primary School and Kyawuka village, Kidera Town council in in Buyende district said DLLN-Uganda has sofar  constructed  6  boreholes in Kidera Town Council in a bid to improve livelihoods through promoting health in the WASH Program. He said  the country is losing more than  400 people daily from water borne diseases like diarrhea, cholera and typhoid among others due to lack of access to safe water.

Tezikuba Patrick, the  Mayor of Kidera Town Council said access to safe clean water has been a big challenge in all the communities of Kidera and DLLN-Uganda has tried to address  it. He added that the borehole in Kitaidhumba was the very first one to be constructed in the area and has saved the water scarcity problem which has been affecting human beings, livestock and farming. 

“We want to thank DLLN-Uganda and the Kyabazinga of Busoga for the great support rendered to our communities ”, said the Mayor.

Walya Peter, the Administrator of DLLN-Uganda said the commissioned project demonstrates tremendous progress towards aiding the government in prioritizing the development of the nation’s human capital under the national development plan III.

 He further argued the locals to use the boreholes responsibly and handle them with extreme care because they belong to the communities. He further cautioned the Women not to use the water sources for gossiping and Adultery since its going to be a meeting point for them.

Muwata Rogers, the headteacher of Kitaidhumba primary school expressed his joy by saying that the community is blessed to have these water sources. " This is a dream come true because we never expected it to happen. When DLLN-Uganda Visted us , it was like a joke and we didn't beleive that it was going to happen in a very short period. The water is going to be used in classrooms to prevent dust, the meals will be on time since the borehole is near to the kitchen and learners attendance is going to improve tremendously. " Rogers Said. 


He further said that the school used to pay one hundred fifty thousand shillings  for water purchased every after 20 days and this water was still not enough which affected the well being of both learners and the staff members. 

The WASH Project Coordinator of DLLN-Uganda , Mdodhogo Joshua Wansodya  said that as a result of receiving the water, demonstration gardens are going to be set up at Kitaidhumba Primary School to teach the children proper Agriculture Practices.

The School is also going to receive two Pit latrines, plates stand and a hand washing facilit

Meanwhile, the community was overwhelmed to receive the water source.
