1000 Youth to sit for DIT National Examinations in July
On 3rd,4th and 5th of May 2023, a team of experts from the Directorate of industrial Training visited the four skilling centers of DLLN -Uganda in Kagulu, Kidera, Kitayundwa and Kisozi in a registration exercise for the Workers Pass Examinations which are scheduled for July 2023.
The Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) is a Ugandan quality assurance directorate offering nationally, regionally and internationally recognized quality assurance services for the Business, Technical, Vocational Education and Training (BTVET). DIT produces high quality assurance mechanisms with emphasis on qualification standards and equivalent ratings with a high level of professionalism
recognized nationally, regionally and internationally.
The Worker’sPAS (“Worker’s Practically Acquired Skills”) is a document that certifies the skills and competences of an individual for a particular occupation. The Worker’sPAS outlines the expected skills and competence the holder can acquire in the occupation. Therefore as a new skill/ competency is acquired, it is assessed and certified in the holder’s Worker’sPAS.
The Worker’sPAS provides a certification opportunity to transfer skills acquired informally into the formal qualification system, thereby enhancing the link between informal and formal training.
Furthermore, the Worker’sPAS is designed to reflect the holder’s employment career and recognizes continuous training and lifelong learning. This certification will tackle the major constraint of recognition of non formal and informally acquired skills especial in the informal sector.
The Worker’sPAS will help the owners to convey their skills and competences in an effective way, it will also Support employability and career advancement and it will guide for lifelong learning and tailored learning opportunities.
The beneficiaries are the young mothers and vulnerable youth who were affected by the covid-19 period and were admitted in these skilling centers to get skills for personal sustainability. Those who will successfully Pass these examinations will graduate in the near by future.
