DLLN Empowers Hairdressing Instructors Through Training of Trainers Workshop
Bukolobe, Uganda | 22nd – 26th July
Developing Lives, Livelihood and Nutrition Uganda (DLLN Uganda) successfully conducted a five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop for Hairdressing Instructors at its headquarters in Bukolobe from 22nd to 26th July. The intensive training brought together hairdressing instructors to strengthen their technical competencies and teaching skills, enabling them to deliver quality vocational training within their respective communities and institutions.
The workshop focused on equipping instructors with modern hairstyling techniques, professional grooming standards, and facial makeup artistry. Through practical demonstrations and hands-on sessions, participants gained experience in a variety of contemporary hairstyles while mastering the fundamentals of professional makeup application.
Throughout the week, the instructors actively participated in collaborative learning sessions where they practiced on one another under the guidance of experienced facilitators. The practical nature of the training allowed participants to refine their techniques, improve precision, and build confidence in delivering both hairdressing and beauty services.
The training covered a range of topics, including:
1. Modern and creative hairstyling techniques
2. Hair preparation and sectioning methods
3. Professional braiding and styling
5. Proper use and maintenance of beauty tools and equipment
4. Facial makeup application for different occasions
6.Client care, hygiene, and professional ethics
7. Effective methods for training and mentoring future learners
The workshop emphasized that vocational skills are a powerful tool for improving livelihoods. By investing in the capacity of instructors, DLLN Uganda is creating a multiplier effect where trained educators will transfer knowledge and practical skills to hundreds of young people seeking employment and self-reliance in the beauty and wellness industry.
Speaking during the training, facilitators encouraged participants to uphold professionalism, creativity, and continuous learning as they prepare the next generation of skilled hairdressers. Participants expressed appreciation for the practical approach of the workshop, noting that the newly acquired skills would enable them to improve the quality of instruction offered in their training centers.
The Training of Trainers workshop forms part of Developing Lives, Livelihood and Nutrition Uganda's ongoing commitment to promoting skills development, youth empowerment, employment creation, and sustainable livelihoods. By strengthening the competencies of vocational instructors, the organization continues to contribute to improved income-generating opportunities and enhanced quality of life for communities across Uganda.
As the workshop concluded on 26th July, participants left equipped not only with advanced technical skills in hairdressing and facial makeup but also with renewed confidence to train others, fostering a ripple effect of knowledge, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment.
